Detailed Program (Print pdf)

The Sanctuary of Fátima, where in 1917 Virgin Mary appeared to 3 young shepherds ("The 3 little shepherds - Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta), is one of the most visited in the world. Besides knowing this place of cult, in order to enjoy your free time to the fullest we suggest other places of great historic, cultural and landscape interest in the region such as the villages of Batalha or Alcobaça, Nazaré and Óbidos.

We start the day crossing the farming region of Ribatejo till we reach Fátima, where we'll make our first stop. You'll visit the Sanctuary, where each year about 5 million people pass by, as well as the homes of the "3 little shepherds". If in your interest, you can attend the mass.
After the visit, we head to the Village of Batalha where we find the Monastery of Batalha (World Heritage and one of Portugal's 7 wonders), build in the 14th century, presenting the Portuguese Manuelino architecture style. It was build after Portugal's unlikely victory on the Ajubarrota's battle, one of the most important through our history. Free time for visit.
(In alternative or included in this tour we can visit Monastery of Alcoçaça (World Heritage and one of Portugal's 7 wonders). More information at "Points of interest")

After that, we follow through the Atlantic coast to visit the picturesque Nazaré village, located on the top of a cliff with a tremendous view to the Atlantic and the white sand beaches. There also waits for us the Sanctuary of Lady of Nazaré.

Free time for lunch. We'll advise something according to your tastes.

After lunch, it's time for walk along the beach before we head to the medieval Village of Óbidos (One of Portugal's 7 wonders), crossing the Farming West region. This is a village fortified by a wall build over 1000 years ago. Once there, you'll have some free time to walk around the village and enjoy the picturesque scenery. Don't forget to taste the Ginginha (wild cherry liquor) in a chocolate cup.

The tour continues through the west region. The former mountain landscape filled with farming fields and wind mills is now forest and pasture where also the big wind towers take the strong winds to generate pollution free electricity. The day will end back to the hotel.
